Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.1.26.1.10.365 ĪV: AVG Anti-Virus Free *On-access scanning enabled* (Updated) - c:\progra~1\common~1\skype\SKYPE4~1.DLL I found the Malwarebytes (I think that's what it was called) to fix that, but I think that's about when this redirecting started to happen. I forgot to tell you that a couple months ago, it got that virus that pretends it's Windows telling you that you have threats, and it kept making windows pop up all over the place with scary messages. It sounds like it probably has a virus, but also, do you think it is hopelessly old?. It's old (December 2002), and recently the CD drive got stuck 2 or 3 times and wouldn't open without some careful jiggling. Last Tuesday night after I left the computer on for its scheduled AVG scan, it somehow disengaged itself from the monitor so that the next day I had to turn it off by the "on" button, and then when I turned it back on again, Firefox automatically opened and went to an advertising site and tried to open an Acrobat document and froze the computer, and I had to hold the "on" button a long time to turn off the computer.
When I go back to the search list, sometimes the names of the proper websites are there but the addresses listed with each one are various advertising sites. At the bottom, I have seen the words "redirect" and "adwords" among others they go by quickly. In a google search list, when I click on one of the choices, Firefox goes instead to another website that is advertising something.
